Women’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy
Women’s and pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy focused on conditions affecting the pelvic floor, bladder, bowel and surrounding muscles. These areas play an important role in everyday function, yet many people experience symptoms such as discomfort, leakage or pelvic pain at some stage of life. Pelvic health physiotherapy provides assessment, treatment and education to help restore strength, function and confidence.
At Bayside Specialist Clinic, our women’s and pelvic health physiotherapy service offers personalised care in a supportive and professional environment. The goal is to help patients better understand their bodies, manage symptoms and return to normal activities with greater comfort and control.
What Can Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Help With?
Pelvic health physiotherapy can assist with a wide range of concerns, including:
Pregnancy-related pelvic pain
Post-natal recovery and pelvic floor rehabilitation
Bladder or bowel leakage (incontinence)
Pelvic organ prolapse
Persistent pelvic pain
Pain during intercourse
Core weakness and abdominal separation after pregnancy
Menopause-related pelvic health changes
These conditions are common but often under-discussed. Physiotherapy provides evidence-based treatment approaches such as targeted exercises, manual therapy, education and lifestyle advice to improve pelvic floor function and overall wellbeing.

How Treatment Works
Your initial appointment involves a comprehensive assessment to understand your symptoms, medical history and goals. From there, a personalised treatment plan may include pelvic floor strengthening or relaxation exercises, movement retraining, manual therapy techniques, and guidance on bladder and bowel health.
Education is a key part of treatment. Understanding how the pelvic floor works—and how daily habits can affect it—empowers patients to take control of their recovery and long-term health.
Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, ensuring care is appropriate, comfortable and aligned with your personal health goals.
